As the county seat of Baltimore County, over 52,000 people reside within the vicinity of Towson, Maryland, making it one of the largest unincorporated county seats in the United States. Towson is known for its unique combination of small town charm and a big city feel.

This community was born when two brothers, William and Thomas Towson, came here from Pennsylvania in the late 1760s. It wasn´t until after Towson became the official county seat in 1854 that the buildings and homes that are still in existence today were built. Today, these buildings and structures illustrate a 19th century ambiance that contributes to the community´s historical charm.

Similar to other neighborhoods within Baltimore County, Towson´s economy is thriving thanks to several national companies whose headquarters are located in the community. One such company is Black and Decker, which, along with the other business, provide residents in and around the area with many job opportunities.

Towson offers tremendous educational possibilities through its school system and universities in the area. Towson University, for one, is considered to be among the nation´s best public universities. As the second-largest public university in Maryland, Towson University prepares close to 19,000 students annually for their future lives and careers in the "real world." Young residents of Towson are educated by the Baltimore County Public School System, or the elite private schools that are provided for alternative education.

Residents of Towson enjoy a neighborly environment in which they can grow alongside the blossoming community in which they live. Come join in the excitement of Towson by letting Eric Figurelle show you available Towson real estate.
